FAQ’s

  • Absolutely! Let’s talk about your role. Will you be available to handle lines and fenders? Relieve the Captain and take a watch shift? If not, then I’ll provide a capable mate to assist during the move freeing you up to simply enjoy the trip.

  • Capt’n 4 Hire must be listed as additionally insured with your Insurance provider. All vessels must be insured. Insurance companies are happy to have, and encourage, having a licensed Captain aboard.

  • Capt’n 4 Hire bills at 50% of the daily rate for delays.

  • It must be mechanically sound for the task to avoid delays during the trip. Two issues that will quickly have us on the wrong end of a tow hook are foul diesel fuel and growth on the underwater gear.

    If a diesel powered vessel has been sitting for more than a month (less in the tropics), the fuel likely needs to be polished. Your marina or technician should be able to perform this important service ahead of a cruise. Extra fuel filters aboard are always recommended.

    Again, if the vessel has not been used regularly it’s likely going to need the running gear cleaned. Schedule that service ahead of the move to save on the tow bill. It’s always recommended that you have towing insurance through Seatow or BoatUS.
